The Hampshire wedding string quartet - 4Strings Quartet was formed in 2012 by a group of professional musicians based in Portsmouth. The quartet's musicians have played throughout the UK much of Europe and the rest of the world and between us offer years of experience in providing top quality live music to audiences that have included many VIPs, Heads of State and Royalty.
The string quartet specialises in providing high quality competitively priced music for weddings, corporate events and private parties. We offer an extensive repertoire covering all musical tastes from Bach and Mozart to Gershwin, the Beatles to Adele. Our repertoire is constantly growing and truly offers something for everyone and for every occasion! Peter has been playing the violin since he was 13 and has an MA in music performance and is a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music. As a violinist on board the Royal Yacht Britannia Peter has travelled the world supporting the Royal Family. This included trips to Australia, The Middle East, the Greek Islands and for the honeymoon trip of the Prince and Princess of Wales. He is now a regular player with Hampshire Orchestras and enjoys playing lead violin with the 4Strings Quartet.
Chris joined the Royal Marines Band Service in 1975 and after training joined the Royal Yacht Britannia where he spent 6 years as leader of the orchestra. Chris became the Principal Director of Music for the Royal Marines in 2002. He held this position for over 7 years, leading many of the nation's most important state occasions as the military's senior director of music. Since leaving the Royal Marines Chris has been busy as a freelance conductor, clinician and adjudicator. He can now be found conducting the Royal Marines Association Concert Band in concerts throughout the country and playing his violin with the 4Strings Quartet.
Lorraine studied the viola at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow now the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. On graduation Lorraine played the viola with the Radio Sinfonica de Lisboa and the Las Palmas Symphony Orchestra. On returning to the UK Lorraine continued to play the viola as a freelance professional musician. She also taught the violin and viola sending many of her pupils to music college and university. Currently Lorraine plays with several local ensembles including the 4Strings Quartet, conducts the Mean Valley Orchestra and continues with her teaching.
Rod has been involved with music since childhood. Rod trained on the violin but subsequently changed to the cello and has obtained a Performer's Certificate on the instrument. Rod has played his cello throughout the UK and extensively in Europe performing in Berlin, Prague, Madrid and The Hague with various ensembles. Locally Rod plays for several Hampshire orchestras and has done extensive pit work in both of the Portsmouth theatres and several of the surrounding theatres.
