Hampshire String Duo - Winchester Cathedral

August 25, 2018

Earlier this month our string duo played for the wedding of Elaine and Philip in the Lady Chapel at Winchester Cathedral. It was a great privilege to be able to play in the Cathedral which offers one of the finest examples of Norman Gothic architecture in the country.

We played a programme of baroque and classical pieces and welcomed the bridal party in to the service with Vivaldi's Gloria in D. Between the two reading we performed 'Méditation from Thais' by Massenet and during the signing of the register we played 'Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring' by Bach and 'Ave Maria' by Schubert. Elaine and Philip left the service to 'The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba' by Handel.

We received the following testimonial from Elaine the bride.

"4 Strings Duo played at our wedding service and after at the reception. They were very efficient at communicating up to the event, suggesting possible pieces, and tolerated our frequent changes of mind with equanimity. They played absolutely beautifully on the day itself. So many of our guests complimented the music. I would thoroughly recommend them!"
