Yesterday was an exciting day for our string duo as we used our new electric Yamaha violin and cello and sound kit for the first time for a wedding breakfast booking at Froyle Park in Hampshire.
It was also our first wedding in 2017 and our first Middle Eastern wedding and in accordance with tradition, the bride and bridegroom and their immediate families were escorted in to the ballroom at Froyle Park by a traditional percussion band. Before the wedding guests sat down for their meal the newly weds danced for their guests to the pulsating beat of the drums.
The string duo then took over and we played for the guests during their meal. We provided a mix of upbeat classical, popular and pop arrangements. In all there were about 150 guests and we were delighted, that our sound equipment easily dealt with the ambient noise level in the room so that we could be clearly heard. After we had finished playing we joined the wedding party for a meal of rice, lamb and other local Syrian goodies!!
